The head of public service, John Mitala, has asked public servants to ensure integrity for better service delivery.
According to Mitala, most public servants have been involved in ‘dirty’ deals which have tainted that image of public service.
“Always practice truthfulness and honesty. Develop moral courage and stand up for what you know to be right,” said Mitala.
Speaking at the farewell party in honor of former deputy head of public service Hilda Musubira at Hotel Africana in Kampala, Mitala urged public servants never to abuse their privileges and making promises they cannot honour.
Mitala also appealed to public officers to be mindful of individuals who may want to indulge them in illegal activities that impact on their image and that of the public service.
Throughout his remarks, Mitala praised Musubira saying she is an extra ordinary public servant who has served government whole heartedly.
“Musubira is one person who has left a great truck of trust. She has never been implicated in any scandal, she was able to deal with anybody,” said Mitala.
Musubira, who has served public service for 38 years in different capacities, was recently appointed deputy chairperson Public Service Commission.
