President Yoweri Museveni is expected to commission the construction of the 64Km Mpigi-Kanoni Road on Monday.
Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) signed a contract with Energo Projekt for upgrading this road to tarmac last year to cost sh124b.
The three-year construction works that commenced last year involve upgrading the existing road to a class 11 standard paved road and widening the carriageway to 7 meters and 2 meters for the shoulders on both sides for pedestrians and pedal cyclists.
Dan Alinange, UNRA spokesperson, said that they had contracted Ugasurv Consultants to conduct the valuation exercise for the people and property affected by the project for compensation.
Engineer Kimeze Sebugga acting UNRA executive director said they are optimistic that Energo Projekt will do a good job like what they did on Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal Road and, Kampala-Gayaza-Zirobwe Road among others.
He said the contractor is obliged to rectify any likely defects on this road for a period of 12 months after completion of the project.
