The Our Lady and St Jude Catholic Parish, Naggulu at Kampala suburbs has marked its diamond celebrations, 60 years

The Our Lady and St Jude Catholic Parish, Naggulu at Kampala suburbs has marked its diamond celebrations, 60 years.
 

The Holy Mass of the occasion was celebrated by the Papal Nuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Michael August Blume, assisted by the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, Parish priest Fr Godfrey Kyeyune his curates Fr Joseph Kaseeta and Fr Michael Lubega. Others were Fr Joseph Mukasa Muwonge from Uganda Martyrs Shrine

Namugongo, Fr Ssafari from Nyenga Seminary, Fr Achillies Kiwanuka Nsubuga and many other priests.
 

The colorful day was marked under the theme 'United with Mother Mary and St Jude, we remain strong in faith'.

In his summon, Archbishop Blume reiterated Pope Francis's message of Christians being the temple of Jesus Christ.
 

“There are many people who do not know God. But all Christians must emulate Jesus Christ, as emphasised by Pope Francis," Blume said.
 

In his message, Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, noted that as the parish marks 60 years, it is important to remember with gratitude all those who have contributed to its spiritual, social and material growth.
 

During the colorful celebration one couple received the sacrament of the holy matrimony.
 

The Parish Priest thanked God for successfully enabling the parishioners to mark their Diamond Jubilee. He praised the founders of the parish for laying the foundation.
 

"We laud the courage, determination and faith of the Late Fr Henry Steegmans one of the founder and other Monsignors and priests, religious catechists and members of the laity who played a role in the shaping of this parish for last sixty years.”
 

He called upon Parishioners not to lose sight of Jesus Christ who lead them in Faith and brings it to perfection through intercession of their patrons Lady of perpetual help and St Jude continue to make us follow the way of Christ and enable us fill their future plans especially the redevelopment of their parish.
 

The head of Laity, Euzebio Katoroogo, noted that its establishment on June 15, 1954, the parish has passed through different leadership which helped their parish to develop.
 

He said other future plans, apart from infrastructure developments, would include more pastoral work and also work on the biggest project in the pipeline, which is building of their parish like a city which will change the face and status of Naggulu Parish.
