Colour and Print are still trendy - 2014 Runway

It is not a secret anymore, bold shades and prints are trendy in fashion, which puts the East African labels on a defined journey, this 2014.

So far so good, we have had two East African runways, the Kampala Fashion Week and Lady Crane International runway, which brought together about three countries (Uganda, Rwanda, & Burundi), eighteen labels, four of which were accessory and fourteen clothing.

All designers who managed to make it on these two runways were well aware of the power of bold shades and prints, and they played around with them well.

They did not leave anything out when it came to adding print & colour. They started with the ladies crown piece, and that’s the hair.

We saw the short dreadlocks of gold shades, and then weave extensions of yellow-red shades.

More head colour was seen in the head accessories- flowers in shades of blue and red. African print hats were also part of the head wear.

Moving down to the eyes, ears and neck, colour and print was evident too. Designers like Renzioni Hill added print to the button necklaces, and earrings.

Lulu & Balungi also included shades of yellow, green, blue, gold, yellow and African print to earrings, bangles, necklaces and eyewear.

From the neck to the legs, the clothing designers also celebrated colour and print, they created dresses, trousers, T-shirts, blouses, jackets, skirts, and bags out of bold shades and prints.

Lakalatwe, Aza, Krysbel, Vondah, Halisi, and other fashion labels came out on top when it came to playing around with African, draft, flora, polka dot and animal prints.

Dali, and Uzuri clothing labels defined what bold shades should look like when they featured day and evening wear in shades of yellow, blue and red on the runway.
