FUFA has secured an international friendly match for Uganda Cranes against Malawi ahead of their AFCON qualifier against Equatorial Guinea

FUFA has secured an international friendly match for Uganda Cranes against Malawi ahead of their AFCON qualifier against Equatorial Guinea.

Cranes will play the friendly at Mandela National Stadium on July 14 before they host Equatorial Guinea for their 2015 Africa Nations Cup campaign at the same venue five days later.

The FUFA CEO Edgar Watson said that the technical team will use the friendly match to tune up the Cranes.

“We are glad to land this friendly because it will come at the most appropriate time when the Cranes are tuning up for the game against Equatorial Guinea” Watson said.

Malawi is also using the match to prepare for an AFCON qualifier of its own against Benin as the race to Morocco 2015 heats up.

Uganda eliminated Madagascar in the previous round.

Cranes entered their second day of training on Tuesday are expected to tour Uganda where they play a western region team as part of their campaign in a bid to garner a bigger fan base for the national team.
