Describe your style secrets

I don’t have style secrets. I put on whatever makes me feel smart and good. Most of the time I like trousers because I feel so smart to the extent people appreciate me. You know we love designing ourselves smart but there must be some people out there to appreciate our looks. To this, I cannot say I have style secrets but it depends on my size because whatever outfit I choose, I look gorgeous.

Where do you buy your trendy clothes from?

I get them from House of Lukoma clothing store, it’s my shop. I import them from Dubai and London and they reach here before I put them on display. I choose some for the show and whatever I feel should use, I either put it back on display or not. But I pick most of my clothes from my shop.

Your favorite shoes?

I truly love heels. I have so many high heels because they are my favorite as a designer. I rarely wear casual shoes – I do them sometimes during the rainy season or when I am in my shop resting. I wear [high] heels a lot.

You always plait curly hair. What’s your secret with it?

Yes. Curly hair makes me look different and good all the time. I personally love something big on my head. I have done curly hair a lot but never tried Pencil because I feel it will hurt. Besides, it does not fit me at all because I hate showing off my head.

How do you choose good make-up for your skin?

I make sure I choose genuine products because I don’t buy from hawkers and vendors. I go to cosmetic shops because they have experience.  We all have different skin complexions. I am black and I have never used products which are mixed with chemicals to change my skin color. That is why my skin has never changed.

What advise do you give ladies who bleach out of changing their beauty products?

My advice is that God created us differently and every lady without make up can be beautiful. If you are dark, brown, stay in the color that God gave you. When you tamper with your skin – from its original color to another color – it will look bad and the skin can never be replaced.

How have you managed to maintain your looks?

I don’t apply a lot of make-up and don’t sleep with it. I clean my face before bed and I balance my diet. I use fruits most of the time, eat local food and avoid a lot of junk [foods].

When not at the shop?

I rest at home, eat, drink and sleep.

Car or hair?

Hehehe, car of course. A car is my first choice because hair is natural, I mean I was born with it, grew up with it but a car, no way, I die with it.

You drive a BMW, what was your first car?

Hmmm…such question! OK I started with a Toyota Rav4, then a Progress and now Rav4 which I received as a gift from my caring husband.
