Upcoming professional talent Sula Segawa has been recruited by UK-based Atlantic Entertainment as a means of helping him achieve his dream of becoming a world champion.

Segawa, who has spent some time without boxing, as opponents in Uganda have been trying to avoid him, is set to join boxers Martin Mubiru and Kenneth Odeke, who are already in the UK for better training and opportunities.

He signed the deal with fellow countryman Andrew Dru Nyakana, who is based in the US, last week when Nyakana was in Uganda.

Nyakana went on to donate boxing equipment to Kampala Boxing Club for the professional boxers.

“I have been having a very big problem here. Getting opponents has been the biggest hurdle in the country as many have always feared me,” said Segawa during his morning workout session at the Kampala Boxing Club gym.

“I have a dream of becoming a world champion and I am focused to have this.”

The local boxer has always been training with Fred Muhumuza, who beat Hamza Sempebwa.

“He will make it.  He is not only focused but he has speed and power and that is what each boxer is looking for,” said training partner Muhumuza.

Odeke has already won two fights and he is expected to have another fight before the month ends, while Mubiru lost his first fight by stoppage.

“We are trying to give Ugandan boxers an opportunity,” said Nyakana of the new deal, adding: “Segawa contacted us and we had no reason of locking him out. He is talented and he can make it big at the next level.”
