Nyombi’s body was found sprawled in the doorway in a pool of blood.

It is believed that Nyombi who drove a Toyota Hiace number UAU 807Q first engaged in a scuffle before his assailants bashed his head with a stone.

Still dressed in a checkered shirt, sweater and khaki trousers, his body was found by a neighbour who made an alarm and alerted residents.

Residents called the LCI chairman, Bernard Sserwadda, who called the Police.

Officers work with a sniffer dog at the crime scene as residents look on

Police led by Nansana police criminal investigations boss Cotilda Nandutu showed up with a sniffer dog but only managed to make a trace till the roadside where it is believed the assailants made their getaway in a car or motorcycle.

Godfrey Sserugo, a brother to Nyombi, said he had eaten supper with him Friday night at Icon Club before he retired and left him and friends waiting for a football match.

A neighbour to Nyombi who did not want to be identified said the assailants must have used a woman to lure him out of the house because he had heard one calling him, but he did not know what happened after that.

Nandutu said that sometime back Nyombi filed a case with Nansana police of threats against his life, adding that investigations were in high gear under file number SD 09/14/06/14.
