Uganda v Seychelles (Nakivubo, June 28)

AFTER their 2-1 first leg victory in Seychelles, Uganda national U-17 football team is expected to return Tuesday and rest for three days before regrouping to prepare for the return leg at Nakivubo stadium on June 28.

Charles Ssebutinde struck to give Uganda the lead on 19 minutes at the Unity Stadium on Saturday.

In the second half, Pius Obuya’s well-taken strike in the 65th minute ensured that the Cubs ended up with a 2-1 away win.

Uganda can now manage to advance to the second round with any draw or a minimum of 1-0 loss in the return leg in Kampala.

The winner of the clash on aggregate will face Rwanda, who are already in the second round of the qualifiers.

The Uganda Cubs are one of the 38 countries registered for qualifiers of the championships that will be held in Niger next year. Lule left Kampala saying that any result would make him satisfied.

“The boys are not under pressure to win and we shall play a more defensive match because we need a decent result to avoid disappointment for the boys. But we may open up and take our opportunities depending on progress of the match,” Lule had noted before leaving Kampala last Thursday.
