AFTER basking in the glory of improving on their personal bests, Uganda’s 800m duo of Winnie Nanyondo and Ronald Musagala will not have an opportunity to party on as they are set to again compete Wednesday evening.

The duo, who finished second in their respective races with new personal best will again be battling in Netherlands in the Nijmegen Grand Prix, though this time, they will both be competing in the 1500m event.

According to their manager Jurrie Van Der Velden of Global Sports communication, the duo had gone to Europe with a major aim of both qualifying for the Commonwealth Games, which they did on the first day.

Nanyondo was also aiming at running a sub 2 minutes in the 800m while Musagala was targeting to run 1:44 and 3:35 in both the 800m and 1500m respectively.

Nanyondo has already achieved her target with her biggest career win after she beat former world champion Castor Semenya and Great Britain’s Jennifer Meadows to finish second and run 1:59.39 in the FBK Games in Hengelo on Sunday.

Musagala on the other hand would be looking at achieving his target, having run 1:45.27 on Sunday.

His manager believes that he will be out to run inside the qualifying time of 3:25.00 so that he tries to double at the Commonwealth Games.

Mande Abdallah will also be competing in the 5000m event with the main target of improving on his personal best after qualifying for the World Junior championships in Oregon.
