Joseph Olita who featured in The Rise And Fall of the Idi Amin film died on June 1, 2014. The 70-year-old man succumbed to high blood pressure at his rural home in Pap Oriang’ in South East Alego.
The popular movie was directed by Sharad Patel. Rise and Fall of Idi Amin was a co-production of the United Kingdom, Kenya and Nigeria, with most of the filming done in Kenya.
Olita had reportedly returned home on Saturday from Nairobi where he had been living after the burial of his mother. His brother Matthews Ogola was quoted in the media to have said Olita had been suffering from arthritis, diabetes and high blood pressure by the time he died.
“Olita developed pressure after the burial of his mother on Saturday,” said his daughter Risper Odero. “We are (the family) confronting the reality of losing two relatives within such a short time.”
Born in 1944, Olita joined Pap Oriang Primary School in 1951, before enrolling at St Mary’s Yala in 1958 for his O level.
