Today, he made an entry in Bundibugyo in a motorcade, welcomed by a multitude of loyalists. He stood out from an open roof Toyota Prado and waved as he was cheered on by jubilant crowds.

Speaking on phone on Wednesday Harriet Ntabazi, the Bundibugyo Woman MP said that the Obudhingya bwa Bwamba was gazetted this month May 6 as the 13th cultural institution of Uganda.

“We thank Government for solving the issue and gazetting it as a cultural institution. There is excitement about our cultural leader. We call on people to respect and give honour to cultural leaders and develop our country. It’s a new cultural institution and we ask the old cultural institutions to support in mothering it,” said Ntabazi.

Maj. Kamya is a son of the late Jeremiah Kawamara, who is the founder of the Obudhingya bwa Bwamba. On Wednesday, Bundibugyo town was a scene fanfare as supporters of the cultural institution jubilated ahead of Kamya’s installation.

Renovation works have been ongoing of a building which will be the main seat and parliament of the institution. The concrete structure with green corrugated iron-sheets is next to the police station in Bundibugyo town.

Women with fresh banana leaves strapped around their waists, danced to sound of the royal drum as workers put final touches to the newly plastered structure. Present was Rhoda Kawamara, the mother to Kamya.

Also, two years ago in October 2012, Government cleared Kamya to resign from the army and be installed as the cultural leader of the Obudhingya bwa Bwamba.
