The just concluded Coca-Cola Rated Next season two Sing It competition which saw 14-year-old Ruth Grace Namatovu scoop the grand prize of sh50m has gone viral on Twitter, a social media platform.
The event that peaked a few minutes after the 9:00pm climax on Sunday evening registered 5.9 million impressions and engaged over 110 users who collectively sent out about 1,200 tweets.
This made the #CRN2 tag the most interactive item on the Ugandans Twitter discussion boards hosted at http:/teamuot.com.
Before handing over the dummy cheque together with Century Bottling Company’s sales and marketing manager, Rob Davis, Vision Group’s chief executive officer, Robert Kabushenga, took to a selfie of himself, Davis and Namatovu and posted it on Twitter.
“Selfie with Rob Davies, Country Sales & Marketing for Coke. Backstage just before handing out the prize #CRN2,” he tweeted.
Another tweet from the The Observer read, “14-year-old Ruth Grace is the Ultimate WINNER of #CRN2 singing competition & sh50m.”
Yansakata video out tweeted, “Congratulations to the @UrbanTVUganda Team. U pulled that #CRN2 Off Successfully,” However, some fans ranted about Namatovu winning the price instead of Ssekitoleko. Mutasaaga Benjamin tweeted: “I am not happy. You guys know at the back of your small heads that Charles is the winner.”
Big Eye Uganda also tweeted, “Was Charles cheated out of a win @ #CRN2?”
A journey that started in January with thousands of hopefuls auditioning from all regions of the country was chiselled down to only a handful, and then to the final four, from which only one had to reign supreme.
Susan Nsibirwa, Vision Group’s marketing manager, hailed the company for making the show a success. She tweeted, “To the team that makes me shine @RatedNextUG @UrbanTVUganda @djbeekay”.
