President Yoweri Museveni is scheduled to meet NRM youth leaders from the central region, Dennis Namara, the NRM Youth League chairperson, has said.

Namara told New Vision the meeting is part of the ongoing interactions that the President is conducting with NRM youth on regional basis.

Last Week on Thursday, Museveni met youth from northern Uganda at State House in Entebbe.

Namara said the meetings are aimed at sharing with the President, who is also the NRM party chairperson, the problems within the youth party structures and other ideas, especially job creation, youth socio-economic empowerment and eradicating poverty through agriculture.

According to Namara, Museveni will meet youth from the western region tomorrow and those from the eastern region on Wednesday.

William Sseruyinda, the NRM vice-chairperson for the central region, told New Vision he had mobilised a total of 509 youth for today’s meeting.

“I have already mobilised 509 NRM youth leaders. We want to present issues affecting the youth in the Central region, especially poverty, job creation and how we can use the money the Government has given to the youth,” he said, adding that the “future of NRM would also be discussed”, especially the role of the youth in the party.

“We also expect to discuss with the President the future of NRM as well as the Kyankwanzi resolutions,” he noted.

He said the youth would assemble at Kololo Airstrip and leave for State House at 8:00am by bus.

According to Sseruyinda, the group includes youth leaders, councillors and sub-county chairpersons.

While meeting NRM youth from Lango, West Nile, Karamoja and Acholi, Museveni said the Government has money for youth programmes, but the problem is that the “channels” are mismanaged by government officials.

The northern NRM youth also endorsed a resolution passed by the party parliamentary caucus to have Museveni as the sole candidate for 2016.
