Luweero polls: Arrested opposition leaders out

Opposition politicians who were arrested on Tuesday in the Luweero district woman MP by-election campaigns have been released.

Opposition politicians who were arrested on Tuesday in the Luweero district woman MP by-election campaigns have been released.


Police commanded by the head of operations, Grace Turyagumanawe arrested MPs Suzan Namaganda, Betty Nambooze, Fred Mukasa Mbidde and Democratic Party president Norbert Mao.

The Police first fired rubber bullets, teargas, and water canon to disperse hundreds of opposition candidate Brenda Nabukenya’s supporters accusing them of addressing a rally past the official campaigning time.
