KCCA Football Club face a tricky semi-final return leg in its chase for a maiden league and cup double. URA on the other hand already have one leg in the final after comprehensively beating Jinja Municipal Council.

KCCA visit Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) at Namboole today well aware that they could pay dearly for the goal they conceded at Lugogo.

Morley Byekwaso’s side needs a 1-0 win to not only shatter the league champions’ dreams of a double, but also edge closer to retaining the Uganda Cup.

KCCA, who won the FUFA Super League for a tenth time on Tuesday, have lifted the knock-out competition eight times, the last time being a decade ago.

On Friday, SCVU underlined their intentions of stopping KCCA by taking the lead.

National team player Denis Iguma led by example scoring the opening goal. KCCA then clawed its way back with goals from William Wadri and Derrick Nsibambi. Byekwaso attributed the loss to injury of first choice players Isaac Muleme, Noah Semakula and Dan Nsubugu.

“I had to improvise but with little effect,” he explained however hastily adding that they will play their hearts out today.

As the two sides battled in Lugogo, URA had an easy run in Lugazi taking their Jinja opponents to school. Feni Ali had a brace while Saidi Kyeyune and Robert Ssentongo had a goal each.

FUFA spokesman Hussein Ahmed said the Jinja Municipal and URA return leg will be held on Tuesday. He explained that the match had to be extended from today to Tuesday because of URA’s players on the national team— the Cranes.

The Cranes leave later this week for Madagascar for a preliminary match of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
