KAMPALA - Jamaican dancehall star Demarco performed to mammoth crowds Saturday night at the Club Music Street Jam, First Street, Industrial Area. This was Demarco’s second show in Uganda and it was a success by any standard.

Crowds queued up at the entrance as early as 6:00pm ready to catch one of the finest dancehall artistes to grace today’s music.

Performances kicked off at 8:30pm with the night’s emcee Dave Dash attempting to raise temperatures urging crowds to sing and dance to the songs played by different deejays like DJ Aludah, DJ Joe, Slick Stuart and Shiru.

There were also several performances from artistes like Leyla Kayondo, Aziz Azion, Michael Ross, Don MC, Rabadaba, Mun G and Jose Chameleone who insisted that this year he is against the idea of fetching international artistes at the expense of Ugandans.

The night stretched until 12:45am when Demarco finally got on stage, sending the crowds in frenzy. He performed most of his old and new songs like Duppy Haffi Mek, Iron Bird, Stil Ah Wole Ah Vibes, She Heard It Before and Lazy Body.

At some point, he went a tad erotic when he invited girls from the crowds for a dance contest.

The girl who won the contest, beating musician Sheeba Karungi, was to dance with the I Love My Life singer and, their dance was akin to those seen in Jamaican videos.

Demarco performed for over an hour and ended his performance with Blessings, a song he did with Ugandan dancehall singer Peter Miles.

There after more local artistes got on stage and stretched on the night until the wee hours of Sunday morning. The show was sponsored by Club Beer and organised by Silk events.
