Kyambogo University has received sh71b for improving its infrastructure.

Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Eli Katunguka said the money would be employed to beef up the university’s capacity to conduct ground-breaking research and improve learning environment.

Kyambogo is a beneficiary of the African Development Bank (ADB) funded Higher Education Science and Technology Project that sees the university bag sh70b.

The sh70b, Kyambogo says, will be used to renovate the Faculty of Engineering laboratory; construct new facilities in various faculties; and supply furniture and equipment to various departments.

The ADB money is also being used to provide training to staff, conduct research and generally implement the institution’s master plan, recently approved by the Kyambogo University Council.

Using the same funds, Kyambogo will construct a Science Park and Incubator Centre at the Faculty of Science.

Kyambogo has further received sh58.72m from the AfriBanana Products Project to support Science and Technology at the University.
