The ministry of health has started the renovation of nine hospitals countrywide. The beneficiary facilities are Moroto Regional Referral Hospital, and general hospitals: Mityana, Iganga, Kiryadongo, Anaka, Nebbi, Moyo, Nakaseka and Entebbe.

This is under the Uganda Health Systems Strengthening Project (UHSSP). The renovations worth $59m (about sh146b), are funded with a World Bank loan.

Rukia Nakamatte, the ministry’s spokesperson, said work was progressing “very well. We expect to finish in July 2015.”
