Caterpillars have invaded some parts of Wakiso, Kayunga and Mukono districts.

The worms which indiscriminately eat green plants have attacked Besania Prayer Mountain in Mukono   scaring away overnight prayers.

The caterpillars which struck about two weeks ago in the form of butterflies and metamorphosed into caterpillars are eating leaves on trees.

When New Vision visited the mountain on Tuesday, it was deserted as worshippers were said to have been scared away.

Efforts to get to the Mukono entomologist and the district Production Officer Dr. Fred Mukulu were futile as their known mobile phone numbers were off.
