Former West Budama MP William Oketcho dies

KAMPALA - Tributes have continued to flow for former West Budama North County MP William Oketcho Odumu who died at Mulago hospital in Kampala, according to government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo.

Announcing the news of his death on Friday, Ofwono Opondo said Oketcho came from a family that brought national education pride to the Jopadhola in Tororo.

The fallen legislator was once a parliamentary committee chairperson.

He was also the man behind the Budget Act which gave parliament a powerful oversight role over national resources.

Many have paid tribute to the MP on social media, with a one Robert speaking of how “I'm equally aggrieved by the death of Hon Oduma” and that “may God console his family and the people of Uganda”.
