BUDDING heavyweight Kenneth Odeke is poised for better things after landing a four month training stint in Belfast, Ireland.

Odeke departed together with super bantamweight Martin Mubiru for specialised training in Europe. While in Ireland the pair will have a chance to have three professional fights.

Odeke who bagged the national heavyweight title after handing a fifth round knockout to Hudson Muhumuza recently said the training opportunity in Ireland was a dream come true for him.

“This is a very big opportunity which I have been dreaming of. I am going to work hard to acquire more skills and techniques,” said Odeke, prior to their departure.

The other boxer middleweight Mohammed Sebyala missed the trip after failing to secure a visa.

The trip is organised by Belfast Promotions John Wilton in conjunction with Uganda Sports Promotions (USP).

“This is a very big opportunity for our boxers. With better training, I strongly believe they will get better skills,” USP manager Abbey Mugai said.
