Civil society organizations have called for decisive action on the theft of public funds if the country is to support its budget.

This plea was made during a pre-budget dialogue at UMA show ground that attracted members of the public, legislators in addition to manufacturers.

Mukunda Julius, senior program director for Forum for Women in Democracy notes that although many cases of corruption and bribery have been brought forward and the culprits punished, a proper procedure to recover the money that has been stolen has yet to be put in place.

He has also expressed his worry over the reduction of money allocated to the education sector noting that this is to continue affecting the quality of the country’s education.
