Following the on-going debate about the perceived negative impact of playing foreign especially Nigerian entertainment content on Uganda’s airwaves and places of entertainment, some sections of the public and the musicians’ fraternity have called for dialogue between the artistes and DJ/VJs.
The argument is that while there may be other factors influencing this choice, it is important to note that this preference, is an impediment to the growth of the music industry, most specifically to local musicians whose economic livelihood thrives on their talent.
For this reason iBRAND and EMDI Institute of Media & Communication is organizing a one day musicians’ forum to bring local musicians and the gatekeepers of public broadcasting on one platform to have a meeting of minds.
The forum, to take place at 2:00pm, today Wednesday, April 16, at EMDI Institute of Media& Communication in Nsambya, will seek to address the key issues of quality production, consumer behaviour and business artistry.
Radio Consultant and researcher, Joel Isabirye, Music Programmer Chris Luwuge and Producer John Kizza will lead presentations.
