THE Vice President Edward Ssekandi and Buganda’s Prince David Wasajja were among the many guests who flocked a fully packed Theatre La Bonita for The Ebonies’ new stage show, ‘Amaanyi g’Omuhabati (The Power of Love)’.

Guests were treated to street shows just outside the Theatre La Bonita. Several artists including Micky Wine, dancers, skaters, acrobats, bikers and other performers treated onlookers to free entertainment.

Doors were opened at 7.00pm with the anxiously waiting fans struggling to take their seats and tickets sold out soon after to the disappointment of many fans.

Other notable guests included Buganda’s Deputy Katikkiro Ambassador Emmanuel Ssendaula, former Katikkiro Mulwanyammuli Ssemwogerere, former Kampala Mayor Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala, Mukono Mayor Muyanja Ssenyonga and Juma Seiko among others.

Several singers and dancers spiced up the show that depicted emotions and controversies that come with love relationships in society.

Commenting about the show, the Ssekandi commended the Ebonies for their plays that touch on social and family issues that affect ‘our society’.

He said the Ebonies were not only Uganda’s ambassadors abroad where they stage a number of shows, but bring up issues that touch our social values through drama.

He said music and drama is an effective way of communicating issues to the public especially those that mirror our social and economic challenges.

“Amaanyi g’Omuhabati depicts daily family life where things always go wrong, which is a learning experience to many,” he said.

He suggested to parents to put aside their busy schedules and always spare time to nurture their children who he said were vulnerable to degeneration caused by the digital era and other challenges.

He commended Ebonies’ J.W. Katende for investing in entertainment even though he had a legal background.

The play will be showing throughout the Easter season.
