MAKERERE University’s hopes of advancing to the knockout stage of the Nile Special University Football League remain slim after a 1-1 draw against Uganda Martyrs University in Nkozi on Thursday.

Gerald Obong put Makerere University ahead in the 22nd minute but they only held that lead for seven minutes before Lineker Buyondo levelled for Uganda Martyrs.

The draw gave Makerere only their second point after a possible nine points from the three matches. They remain in the second last position on the six-team Group A table.

It was Makerere’s second draw following the recent one against defending champions Kampala University at home last month.

For Uganda Martyrs, the draw has pushed them level on four points with champions Kampala University after four matches.

Kampala University host newcomers Gulu at Villa Park on Friday.
