Gen. Muhoozi meets UPDF troops in South Sudan

The Commander Land Forces Maj. Gen. David Muhoozi on Wednesday addressed Ugandan troops at the Juba air force base in South Sudan.

The Commander Land Forces (CLF), Maj. Gen. David Muhoozi on Wednesday addressed Ugandan troops at the Juba air force base in South Sudan.


He was flanked by the UPDF South Sudan contingent commander Brig. Kayanja Muhanga.

Muhoozi jetted into South Sudan on Tuesday and flew to Bor, the flash point town of the troubled Jonglei state where Uganda has a base and inspected troops there before flying back to Juba together with Muhanga.

At the Juba air force base Muhoozi inspected and later addressed soldiers there. As early as 8:00am Ugandan soldiers neatly spruced in their uniforms and in formations could be seen and heard chanting martial songs before being addressed.

The media was barred from the briefing though he is later expected to talk to the press.

Muhoozi is in South Sudan for a morale whipping tour to be updated on the operations/ situation.

The UPDF deployed in South Sudan in December following the eruption of conflicts to among other things help restore peace and stability.
