Police have dismissed claims that they plan to arrest the Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi’s wife, Jackline, a senior member of the ruling National Resistance Movement.

Police’s response came after media reports that had indicated that Jackline, a leader of the NRM women’s league was to be arrested after she made public a recording of information between an NRM mobiliser Alex Kasirivu   and the Inspector General of police Kale Kayihura.

Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, however, said “that information is false.”

In a press release issued to the media on Tuesday afternoon, the new police Spokesperson refuted that claims.

“There have been a number of reports in some sections of the media alleging that Police plans to arrest Mrs. Jackline Mbabazi. We would like to categorically make it clear that the Police has no intentions or plans to summon or arrest Mrs. Mbabazi. Those allegations are totally false and we urged the public to ignore it,” reads the statement in part.
