The Supreme Court has set Friday April 11 as the date to hear an application by embattled City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

Lukwago is seeking orders to allow him perform his mayoral duties until a main application before the High Court in which he challenges the tribunal report has been heard and disposed of.

Lukwago petitioned the Supreme Court following a decision by the Acting Chief Justice Steven Kavuma to halt all actions in his case until the Attorney General’s application before the court had been heard and disposed of.

He had shortly assumed office when the Attorney General (AG) filed an application before the Court of Appeal. The AG was granted an injunction barring Lukwago from proceeding with his duties as the mayor of Kampala.

Justice Yasin Nyanzi, who was ready to deliver his ruling on the tribunal report now await a Supreme Court decision before proceeding with delivering his judgment.
