KCCA seek to reignite title charge

AFTER being ambushed by lowly Entebbe, KCCA return to league action well aware that they can’t afford more losses if they are to retain the title.

That’s what should be on coach George Nsimbe’s mind when he hosts Police at Lugogo this evening.

With two matches in hand, fourth placed KCCA are well positioned to cruise past current leaders Vipers and URA to their tenth title.

On-form Herman Wasswa is one of those Nsimbe will be banking on for results.

Wasswa on Saturday struck a hat-trick that helped KCCA beat Ntungamo team Ntado to book a place in the Uganda Cup quarter-finals.

As KCCA regains its balance the race at the top remains tight with Vipers, URA and Sports Club Victoria University also in title contention.

Victoria University will be visiting Masaka in a match where victory will thrust the Kampala side into the league lead. It will be the same story for the tax collectors who will be hosted by Bright Stars.

Coach Paul Nkata’s prayer will be that the other title contenders stumble on a day that Vipers will not be in action. 

Meanwhile, the Uganda Cup quarter final draw will be held tomorrow at the FUFA headquarters in Mengo.

Quarter finalists are KCCA, URA, BUL Bidco, Lweza, Jinja Municipal and Wandegeya.

Hope Soana and Kampala University play today at Kyambogo to determine the eighth team for the draw.
