Parliament committee on health on Monday visited the main National Referral Hospital, Mulago to assess the situation following the water crisis at the hospital and other related problems.
Natioal Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) recently disconnected water supply to the country’s biggest health facility over unpaid bills totaling to sh6b.
Committee chairperson Dr. Kenneth Omona said the committee will compile a report about the findings from Mulago.
Over 200 households around Mulago hospital are illegally connected to its water supply. The executive director, Dr Baterana Byaruhanga, attributed their hefty water bill to these illegal connections.
The ministry of finance has directed the administration of Mulago hospital to cut off all illegal water connections to reduce on their water bills.
