Ngaimoko starts campaign on high

After a flopped 2013 season, Ali Ngaimoko will be fighting to make a comeback at the sprints, but this time battling with new faces in his battle to regain the sprint honours early in the season.

He will be among the faces set to compete in the second national track and field trial set for Namboole on Saturday.
 

The Police athlete has already sent a bold statement that he is on top form after beating the duo of Musa Isabirye and Hamidu Musa by clocking 34.6 seconds at the national over distance that were held at Kyambogo University grounds over three weeks back.

Ngaimoko, who has been training hard has already said that he is prepared for the trial.

“I will be taking part in both the 200m and 400m. I want to make it to Glasgow,” said the athlete, whose effort to hit the qualifying mark for the London Olympics fell by microseconds.
 

He is also expected to have more competition from Lazarus Inyar as the battle for the leading sprinter takes shape early.
 

Focus will be on the women 800m when World University cross country champion Winnie Nannyondo takes on silver medalist Dorcus Ajok in the middle distance (800m and 1500m) event as the season builds steam.
