Kinene targets CAR 7s title

After missing the continental title twice, the national women rugby 7s team coach Anthony Kinene is confident his charges will post good results in the Confederation of Africa Rugby Women Sevens (CAR Women 7s) tournament due next weekend at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Kenya.

After missing the continental title twice, the national women rugby 7s team coach Anthony Kinene is confident his charges will post good results in the Confederation of Africa Rugby Women Sevens (CAR Women 7s) tournament due next weekend at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Kenya.

Kinene left Thursday morning for IRB 7s coaches’ level II training worship in Nairobi and will be joined by the team on Sunday for five days before heading to Machakos for the competitions.
 

“The girls are now good to go and I am confident they will post good results,” Kinene confirmed to the New Vision Thursday before he left.

The team will have a week's acclimatization and training camp in Nairobi at Brook house School before heading to Machakos for the one day tournament on Saturday April 12.
 

The Dimension Data sponsored Lady Cranes are in pool B with Tunisia, Zimbabwe and Namibia and play their opening game against Namibia on Saturday at 11:20am.
 

The Lady Cranes Squad includes: Helen Koyokoyo Buteme (cpt), Brenda Kayiyi (assist cpt), Asha Nakityo, Claire Anena, Emmanuella Oroma, Hellen Gizamba, Hilda Nyiraguhirwa,Joan Mukoya,Mary Kyoita, Regina Athieno and Rosenburg Kanyunyuzi.

Officials are Anthony Kinene (Coach), Mike Wandera (Assist Coach), Dorothy Nekesa (Team manager) and Wilbrod Makumbi (physiotherapist).
