President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has said the reason Africa has been engaged in one war after another is because of external factors at play on the continent.

The reasons these have been happening is because of vested interest in Africa based on greed, ignorance and arrogance, he explained.

President Museveni made these remarks at the ongoing Fourth European Union-Africa summit held in the Belgian city of Brussels.

He added that the various instabilities on the continent have been because of ideological disorientation of some political actors.

“Gross and criminal indiscipline of many African actors who misbehave with impunity; this especially applies to soldiers and other para-military groups,” he said adding that external meddling based on greed, ignorance and arrogance was yet another factor.

“The under-development of many African economies that does not allow the funding (adequate or otherwise) of African armies and security forces, where upon the said forces have to depend on erratic external funding,” was the other factor noted in his statement.

The meeting that started on April 2, 2014, centred on ways of enhancing education in Africa, fighting illegal immigrations and stemming the various wars that have ravaged the continent.
