1607 graduate at Uganda Management Institute

KAMPALA - Uganda Management Institute (UMI) on Friday passed out 1,607 graduates in Kampala, with graduates receiving certificates, diplomas, postgraduate diplomas and Master’s degrees in various disciplines.

Of the 1,607 graduates, 812 were males representing 50.5% while 795 were female (49.5%).

According to the director general Dr. James Nkata of UMI, this year's figures indicated a 3% increase in the percentage of females graduating.

Nkata encouraged more females to enroll in postgraduate education.

"This should not be an in itself but serve as a motivation to our female participants," Nkata said.

Saturday Vision deputy editor Wangah Wanyama graduated with a postgraduate diploma in public and governance policy.

Another notable graduate was Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba who graduated with a postgraduate diploma in evaluation and monitoring.

Prisons spokesman Frank Mbaine also graduated.
