Soul Deep band makes comeback

Soul Deep band made a comeback of sorts last Thursday evening at Mackinnon Suites following a long hiatus of no performances for reasons best kept to themselves.
 
The combo comprising of lead performer Maureen Rutabingwa, known by the stage name MoRoots, Abraham Sembatya on bass guitar, Roy Kasika on drums and one pianist started off at 8:00pm as scheduled and took a sizeable audience through two-hours of  covers from artistes like Aretha Franklyn, Whitney Houston, Adele plus a few of their own songs like Home.
 
Soul Deep sessions will be on once every month with different themes. The night’s theme was celebrating women.

The night also saw performers like Myko Ouma join the band alongside Mo Roots’ sibling Martin Rutabingwa on the song Muluyimba, while others like talented vocalists Solome and Sanyu of the Worship Harvest did their time before keyboardist Steve Keys came on and performed R. Kelly’s When A Woman Loves.

Their performances gave the show an impetus it required.
 
In the audience were a number of artistes like Maurice Kirya and DJ Twonjex who came to support Mo Roots, a well-known saxophonist and vocalist. She did more singing than blowing the instrument on the night, however.
 
The night ended at 10:00pm with MoRoots doing Adele’s Set Fire To The Rain.
