UGANDAN side Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) was knocked out of the on-going East Africa Netball Championships after they lost to JKT on Wednesday at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Ugandan side needed a win to book a slot in the women’s semi-finals but the 48-40 loss to their Tanzanian opponents deprived them of a place in the next stage scheduled for Friday at the same venue.

The game started with KCCA trailing 24-20 but as the game got tense, KCCA dropped in performance to trail by eight goals at the final whistle.

KCCA’s goal attacker (GA) Irene Ayaru and goal shooter (GS) Florence Nansubuga played a major role in staging a fight back but couldn’t overcome the strength of the JKT players.

KCCA is now scheduled to take on fellow Ugandan club Police in their final group games on Thursday morning but the results from the game have little or no impact on their final placing in the weeklong tournament.

In the other fixture, JKT will be up against Mafunzo from Zanzibar on Thursday afternoon at the same venue.

The two teams have 2 points each in Pool B and the result from this game will determine who meets defending champions NIC who play Prisons on the other game.

NIC are top of Pool A with 6 points followed by Prisons in second place with 4 points.
