NDEJJE University played host to the latest round of matches in the Zuku University Basketball League (ZUBL) and Walker Obedi’s team put on a show for the home fans to stay unbeaten in the 10-team competition.

In fairness, St Lawrence were never going to trouble a Ndejje side loaded with effective National Basketball League players a la Goeffrey Soro, Jonah Otim and James Okello. Still, you can only beat who is put in front of you and that is all Ndejje have done in the ZUBL so far.

Okello grabbed 20 points and 12 rebounds and John Chipaki added 11 points as Ndejje cruised to a 71-37 win. St Lawrence, led by Sedar Sagamba’s 12 points, were competitive in the first quarter, finishing 17-12 behind.

But Ndejje won the second quarter 11-2 to seize control and register their fourth straight win of the tournament. The UCU Canons improved their record to 3-1 after bagging victories over Kisubi Brothers University and Kampala University.

Jonathan Egau had 28 points and 11 rebounds and Daniel Ogara added 15 points as UCU hammered Kisubi 83-24. Nick Natuhereza’s side then went on to register a 37-26 win over Kampala University, with Sunday Okot scoring a team-high eight points for the Canons.

Meanwhile, Makerere University humbled Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) 90-03 with Claire Lamunu, Treasure Nababuza, Immaculate Kyalisima and Joy Chemutai scoring 18, 18, 12, and 10 points respectively.

IUIU were led by Nassim Nakabugo and Mildred Asiomizu with two points and one respectively in a game that was not exactly a perfect advert for the competitiveness of the ZUBL.
