The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga is set to visit Busoga Kingdom in his on-going campaign to mobilise funds for the reconstruction of Kasubi tombs.

Buganda Kingdom spokesperson Denis Walusimbi Sengendo told New Vision that the Katikkiro was invited to Busoga by the Baganda living there and the local Basoga.

Sengendo however said he was out of office to tell the date Mayiga will be going to Busoga. But a source in Busoga said that he was expected there on March 22.

“Preparations for the Katikkiro’s visit are on-going and announcements are running on different radio stations, asking the Baganda to attend preparation meetings,” a source said.

Mayiga has visited most of the counties in Buganda on the campaign and has mobilised millions of shillings from Buganda Kingdom’s loyalists and well wishers.

Recently the Katikkiro got a warm reception in Western Uganda where he met the Baganda living there and well wishers, mobilising over sh80m.

Kasubi tombs, a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) heritage site, were burnt down in 2010 and are currently under reconstruction.
