Government is drafting guidelines for Residential district commissioners (RDCs) to avoid clashes with local politicians in their areas of jurisdiction, the minister in charge of the Presidency has said.
“Why should an RDC take sides or clash with a local political leader? Their work is to monitor government programs not politicking like many are doing,” said Tumwebaze.
Tumwebaze made the remarks Wednesday while appearing before the Parliament’s committee on Presidential Affairs.
Tumwebaze told the committee that government would take all the newly appointed RDCs to the National Leadership Training Institute Kyankwanzi for training.
“ Being an RDC is now a serious government duty, most of the RDCs we have are highly educated with degrees and masters so they should avoid politics and concentrate on monitoring government work which is their main duty”.
