The Internal Security Organization (ISO) director in charge of the marine, Maj. Herbert Muramagi, has been charged with a plot to kill superiors.
Muramagi, who was arrested from his home in Kiwatule, a Kampala suburb by intelligence operatives last month, was charged before the General court marital chaired by Brig. Moses Ssentongo, in Makindye Tuesday.
According to the charge sheet, Muramagi, between last May and February this year, in diverse places in Kampala, with others still at large, hatched a plot to kill superiors. The superiors on the charge sheet are identified as MPs.
This, the state said, is conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline of the UPDF.
Before Muramagi took plea, there was a brief argument between state prosecutors Captains Fred Kangwamu and Gerald Bamwitirebye and his (Muramagi) defense barrister, Capt. Nasser Drago, over “a mismatch” between the statement of the offence and the particulars of the offence on the charge sheet.
The charge sheet had the statement of the offence as conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline while the details of the offence were explained as hatching a plot to kill MPs.
