Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) will contract and repair over 50 city roads in the next fiscal year.

KCCA executive director, Jennifer Musis, has revealed. She was on Friday commissioning works on four roads in Makindye.

“We don’t want murram and poor roads in the city. Improving roads is also aimed at reducing the traffic jam in the city,” Musisi said.

Musisi said that they will focus mainly on bad spots on the roads. According the city chief, priority will be improving all city roads.

She also commissioned a sh5.3b road reconstruction and upgrading project in Makindye aimed at easing traffic.

China Communications Construction Company was contracted for the works and would also replace broken culverts and unblock drainage systems.

“Many city drainage systems were designed decades ago yet the city gets built up over time which increases surface run-off water whenever it rains. Most of the drainage channels are clogged with silt and rubbish. All this has been contributing to floods,” she noted.

The roads to be repaired include; Kibuli, Mukasa, Go down, and Church roads.
