Schools Rugby League
Kyambogo v Hana Mixed (Kyadondo)
London v Kololo SS (Maya)
SMACK v Namilyango (Kisubi)
Budo v Makerere College
DESPITE starting on a wrong note by losing 11-6 to Kololo Secondary School on home turf, that is not grounds enough to rule Hana Mixed out of this year’s schools rugby league title race.
Hana coach Robert Sseguya told New Vision Sport that his charges are not ready to lose any other game and are focused on nothing less than victory on Sunday when they face Kyambogo College in a return leg at Kyadondo Rugby Club.
Last weekend Hana whipped Kyambogo 65-5, a sign that the defending champions have regained their form.
“We are the defending champions and we shall retain this trophy. We relaxed in the beginning and lost a game against Kololo but that is no more,” Sseguya stated.
He added that he will rely on their Buffaloes Rugby Club stars that include, Fred Odul, Simon Oyet, Robert Masinde, Paul Masinde, plus scrum halves Kevin Keremundu and Steven Alul.
Namilyango out to avenge defeat SMACK
In Kisubi, St. Mary’s College Kisubi hosts traditional rivals Namilyango College in what has been dubbed a clash of the Titans.
As Namilyango cut short their weekend and resumed training on Monday after a 15-0 humiliation at the hands of SMACK, the latter also cut short their celebrations by resuming training on the same evening.
“We have never lost to SMACK in the past five years until last weekend and that is why we had to immediately return to the drawing board and rectify our mistakes,” Ambrose Kakuru, Namilyango coach stated.
“This is a game we must win. We can’t afford losing to the ‘weevils’ (SMACK) again,” Kakuru stressed before adding that his team’s fitness is now ok.
However, SMACK coach and games teacher Ronald Mutebi scoffed at Namilyango who he said were guilty of day dreaming.
“I know we shall be under pressure to win on home turf especially from our fans but if we managed to overcome their intimidation and violate crowd then they should forget a win at SMACK,” Mutebi stated confidently.
