THE national athletics governing body (UAF) has urged Ugandans to join them and offer services as volunteers during the Africa Cross Country championship due March 16 at Kololo Ceremonial ground.
UAF president Dominic Otuchet made the appeal during a press conference held at the Federation offices on Entebbe Road and also announced the charges for the event.
He explained that UAF intends to use the event to bid for bigger international events and continental events that is why they are focused at having a world class organisation.
“We want as many volunteers as possible so that we can be able to handle all the departments including first aid, refreshments, security and many other departments,” Otuchet stated.
“After getting these volunteers and marshals, we shall train them on what to do and how to do it so that they offer the best services required by the athletes and guests,” Otuchet added.
He added that on Monday tickets for the event will go on sale at various points that will be announced on Monday.
According to the release, fans will part with sh10000 for stands, sh30000 for sitting and sh100000 for VIP section.
A total of 30 countries including World long distance running giants, Ethiopia, Kenya, Eritrea and Morocco among others have confirmed their participation.
Otuchet further added the despite their preparations being haunted by lack of finances, he is hopeful the presidential pledge will rescue them.
