AFTER failing to recapture the World Boxing Council (WBC) International heavyweight title, Joseph Lubega has vowed to go back to the drawing board.

Lubega suffered a humiliating defeat when he lost to a South African Ryno Liebenberg in round one of the contest.

The fight, held in Johannesburg last Saturday, was supposed to last 12 rounds.

Lubega managed to beat the count but Tunisian referee ruled the fight over.

The Ugandan pugilist had won the title after knocking out Kirt Sinnette of Trinidad and Tobago in 2012.

Lubega told New Vision that the defeat in Johannesburg has given him the urge to work harder.

“Now, I have to work very hard. I need to get back to the drawing board,” he said.

Meanwhile, another professional boxer Kenneth Odeke will have specialised training in Ireland later this month after winning the national heavyweight title in Kampala last Friday.
