PATRICK Mwaka is eagerly waiting to return to the national team after making the cut to play in the final round of the national team qualifiers at Kitante today.

Mwaka who was part of the Ugandan team that won the East African challenge in 2009 in Entebbe shot a closing round of 74 to finish third after the day two, 36 hole challenge at Entebbe Club on Wednesday.

Everything went well for me today, I wasn’t under pressure and I plan to play better than what I registered in the first round at Kitante, Entebbe Golf Club\s Mwaka said.

“The only problem is that I rarely play at Kitante but I took the first round as a practice round so I will cope” he added

Toro’s Adolf Muhumuza maintained his lead though despite returning 154 gross after the two rounds played at Entebbe in the scorching sun.

Another Toro pair of Ronald Rugumayo and Ronald Otile were also in top form returning 159 and 146 respectively to finish in second and fourth position respectively.

Lugazi’s Ronald Bukenya who finished second on day one found the Entebbe course tough and finished 7th

Eight golfers from Toro, twelve from Entebbe form the bulk of players who will play in the 30 man final on Thursday at Kitante.

The top twenty in the final will make it to the national team that will immediately start preparations for tournaments in Zambia and South Africa.
