Viewers in northern Uganda are awash with excitement after Vision Group’s Urban Television (TV) started airing on channel 25.

Viewers in northern Uganda are awash with excitement after Vision Group’s Urban Television (TV) started airing on channel 25.

Alex Otim, a former LC5 councilor with Gulu district local government said the coming of Urban TV was exciting and will provide wider information dissemination and all round media coverage to the people of northern Uganda.

“I have for the first time watched it here from about mid-day right in Gulu town and it is very clear with very good picture qualitie. This is very good. And this is the kind of thing we have been yarning to have a down to earth TV that shall help to portray many activities that take place in northern Uganda.

I appeal to our people in the north to use this chance to bring out all issues that affect our people through Urban TV. Big thanks to Vision Group and Rupiny for this expeditious growth in the media”, said Alex Otim.

Revelers excited about Urban TV airing in Gulu

Vision Group’s Head of Television section, Mark Walungama said the expansion will give viewers various options through the available platforms under Vision Group.

“Our viewers can now enjoy various media services offered by Vision Group such as Radio Rupiny, Rupiny Newspaper, The New Vision newspaper and now Urban TV has come in in full swing in the north just to mention but a few.

We would like to thank all our esteemed clients, TV viewers, listeners and readers in the north and throughout the country for supporting and growing us as the leading broadcasters, telecasters and media publishers in the country”, said Walungama.

The LC1 chairman of Greeen Valley ward in Gulu Municipality said the people of Gulu and Acholi had been waiting for the birth of Urban TV or Rupiny TV in Gulu.

Olanya who visited the Vision Group’s Gulu Bureau on Tuesday morning said he was very happy with the current development of Urban TV telecast in Gulu.

“This is very good that the Urban TV has reached Gulu and other parts of northern Uganda. We shall now be watching some of the things that happen here in Gulu and the north live on Urban TV”, said Olanya.

The Aswa Regional Police Spokesman, Patrick Jimmy Okema applauded Vision Group for extending Urban TV that was only within Kampala to northern Uganda.

“We shall now be watching ourselves and events that take place here live on Urban TV. This is the type of media development we have been looking for. It good the Urban TV has now come”, said Okema.
