KCCA coach George Nsimbe believes his side will register yet another remarkable first leg away result against their CAF Champions League opponents Nkana in Kitwe tomorrow.

Speaking on arrival at Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Wednesday, Nsimbe told Zambian publication Daily Mail that history will be rewritten at Nkana Stadium.

“We have belief because we are in a much better mental shape. I believe we can do it,” he said.

“The quality is almost the same amongst all African clubs. We shall approach the game as we did against El Merreikh. I believe we play the same kind of football so we are at par with all the teams in the competition,” Nsimbe added.

KCCA have not beaten Nkana over the years and the last meeting in 1992 in the then African Club Champions Cup (now CAF Champions League) saw Nkana win 6-0 on aggregate.

“That record will have no effect on us. It won’t be easy but we just have to do it to remain in the competition,” he added.

Nsimbe stated that although this weekend’s away leg presents its own challenges, the gulf in class among African teams has reduced with teams capable of winning anywhere.

He intends to employ the same attacking strategy that yielded positive results in Khartoum.

Nkana warn KCCA Meanwhile, Nkana are similarly blowing hot.

The club’s captain Sydney Kalume hinted that his side would be looking for four goals to ease pressure in the return leg.

“It will be a tough match but we have to win it at all costs. We’ll play good football so that we can score at least four goals to make our work easy in Kampala,” Kalume stated.
