Police warn public over undressing women

The Police have warned the public against being overzealous in implementing the recently enacted anti-pornography law.

In a statement on Monday, Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba said there are guidelines to be fulfilled before the law can be operationalised.

“There are committees that have to be put in place before the law becomes effective,” Nabakooba said.

According to the Police, an anti-pornography committee, when enacted, will offer rehabilitation services to victims of pornography, make early detection as well as the collection of pornographic material.

“The law will not give the public the authority to undress indecently dressed people, and if they do so, they will be breaking the law,” Nabakooba said In a related development, the Elgon regional Police spokesperson, Diana Nandawula, said they arrested seven people, who reportedly went on rampage, undressing women for wearing mini-skirts. The women were reportedly going for church services on Sunday.
