Zambia v Uganda (March 5th)
GEOFFREY Massa has been recalled for Uganda’s international friendly game against Zambia on March 5.
The striker was controversially left out of Uganda’s must-win World Cup qualifier against Senegal last year. The Cranes eventually lost 1-0 to the Lions of Teranga.
“Massa is in just as Onyango (Denis), who had his first game at Bidvest last week. I am generally happy with the selection. I had 45 players and reduced that to 25 basing on technical aspects and competition in different positions. I plan two more friendlies in future before the qualifiers begin,” Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic stated on Monday.
However, teenage sensation Yunus Sentamu has been excluded from the 25-man squad.
Vipers striker Sentamu, rose to prominence during the recent CHAN 2014 tournament where he scored all of Cranes' goals at the competition reserved for home-based players.
Turkey-based midfielder Martin Mutumba has also been excluded from the team.
According to Micho, the decision was meant to allow Mutumba time to complete his transfer registration process at Turkish club Caykur Rizespor.
“He just got his transfer papers yesterday,” Micho told New Vision.
Mutumba joined the newly-promoted side from Swedish side AIK Stockholm in January on a two-year deal. He is expected to make his debut for Rizespor against Turkish giants Galatasary on Sunday.
